Anna's describes itself as "Mexican fast food," and they are not kidding. Go there at noon sometime and although the line will be snaking out the door, thanks to the lightening speed of the custom burrito assembly line, you'll be up to the counter faster than you can say "super chicken burrito with everything." The burrito, their signature food item, is huge, boasting nearly a full pound off food. You can get pork, beef or chicken with your choice of additional rice, beans (black, red or refried), fresh-made guacamole or salsa (loaded with delicious fresh chopped cilantro), peppers and more. Additionally, they serve various combo plates as well as several kinds of tacos. My personal favorite is the Tacos Al Pastor, which is made from spicy pork roasting on a giant spit right on the counter. When you place your order, they whack off a pile of meat with a huge knife right before your eyes... you just don't get that kind of interactive food preparation experience at ABP. Lastly, the prices at
Anna's can't be beat. A regular burrito costs under $4, a super burrito just under $5 and the tacos are only $1.25. With prices like these, you won't even make a dent in your Peruvian back-packing budget.
To serve all of your burrito and taco needs, Anna's Taqueria is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to midnight.
