Get home from the C-function. Make phone call to interview partner to discuss logistics. Chat about the C-function and agree that we are true rock stars - we do C-functions Thursday and Banking on Friday. Shame on the all the losers who left for NY the night before.
1:00 am
Lights out.
4:45 am
The alarm clock rings. After hitting snooze twice, stumble out of bed and log onto WSJ.com to download today's headlines. Next stop is Vault.com. Download employer guides to today's banks (should have read these during SIP week…arrgh!). Double check train ticket. Hit the shower.
5:00 am
Pick out the right tie. Remember the words of Ben Hur '07 - "Dude, don't walk in there looking all liberal with a pink tie." Choose blue to be safe. Iron shirt, throw on jacket, call a cab.
5:40 am
Heading in a cab towards Kendall Square. It's pouring.
5:45 am
At the T-stop, stressing about missing the 6:05 Acela.
5:57 am
Arrive at South Station, print out ticket. Is there time for a walnut-banana muffin? Starving and SOOOO need some coffee. Thank you ABP!
6:03 am
Board Acela with fellow Sloanie and get situated in the Quiet Car.
6:05 am
Pulling out of South Station. Compare our notes and catch up on gossip from last night's C-function.
6:10 am
Asked to leave quiet car by middle aged dude wearing liberal lavender shirt - "Seriously guys, if you want to talk, you need to go to another car." Finish muffin in silence and collect belongings.
6:15 am
Run into more Sloanies in neighboring not-so-quiet car thanks to the chirpy French four-year old in the seat behind. Get crash course on the rise of private equity from market-savvy classmate.
7:00 am
Should read vault guides and WSJ headlines but decide to take a short nap instead.
8:45 am
That nap wasn't so short after all. Only an hour 'til Penn Station! Quickly glance over headlines and discuss interview strategy with partner. Neighboring team demonstrates their all-star interview act.
9:50 am
Pull into Penn Station 15 minutes late. Bid farewell to the other Sloan party and make a mad dash up the stairs.
9:55
Quick pit stop at Penn Station shoe shine parlor. The best shine for $3.
10:05 am
On the E, heading to Midtown, quickly rehearse pitches: "…and I'm so excited about banking because I didn't want to wear that pink tie today anyway."
10:20 am
Stop at Starbucks across from Bank #1 for intravenous caffeine treatment. Use restroom. Freshen up and remind self in restroom mirror "Smile, look sharp, and seem excited!"
